One of the best chutneys that go with idlis and some types of dosa.
The Ginger Coconut chutney is also known as "Alle Chutney" in Konkani.
coconut/dessicated coconut - 1 cup or 100 gms
Ginger - 2 inch piece
Dry Red chilli - 1
Tamarind piece - 2 inch
For seasoning :
oil - 1tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Red chilli dry - 1
Curry leaves - 3
Grind all the ingredients under "To grind" with 2 tbsp water.
To season :
Take a seasoning pan, add oil, when its lightly hot, add mustard, curry leaves and red chilli,
when the mustard beings to splutter pour over the ground masala.
Add salt to taste.
Ginger coconut chutney is ready.
