Sweet n Spicy Beaten Rice or "Phova Chetni" in Konkani - A Breakfast dish

"Poha" or Beaten rice is dehusked rice which is flattened and dried into thin dry flakes.
One the benefit of beaten rice is that it is fat, cholesterol and sodium free. Thus it is beneficial for obese and hypertensive patients. It is rich in riboflavin, vitamin E, Calcium, and Magnesium.
Here is a very old and traditional breakfast dish that my mom and grand mom make which is not only quick to make, but also nutritious and tasty.

Its best eaten with "Chane Upkari" or Black Chickpeas Stir fry

Method:
Dry grind the Roasted red chilly , coriander seeds and cumin seeds to a fine powder.
This is known as "Phova Chetni pitti" in Konkani or Phova Chetni mix.
Incase you want to make it even simpler , you can use 1 tsp each of red chilly powder, coriander powder and cumin powder.
Take a large bowl, add the tamarind juice, salt, the ground mixture of red chilly , coriander and cumin, turmeric powder, jaggery or sugar and mix well preferably with hand.
Add the grated coconut and mix well.
Now add the beaten rice or Poha and mix well with hand until soft.
