Beaten rice in seasoned curds or "Kalle Pohu" in Konkani
A simple, quick n easy to make dish which is also one of the dishes made during Krishna Janmashtami special.
"Kalle Pohu" is nothing but Beaten rice mixed with seasoned curds.
Its a very healthy dish which can be eaten as a snack or as a meal itself.
Ingredients:
Beaten rice - 1 cup
Curds - 1 cup
Green chillies - 1 - chopped
Ginger - 1 inch piece - chopped (Optional)
For seasoning:
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chillies - 2
Curry leaves - 5
Hing or Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves - chopped - 1 tsp
Method:
Wash the beaten rice in a sieve under running water, and drain and keep aside. Add chopped green chillies and salt and mix well.
To prepare the seasoning, take a seasoning pan, add oil, keep on low heat, add mustard seeds, red chillies, curry leaves and hing and allow to crackle.
Pour on the curds and keep aside.
Just before serving, mix the seasoned curds with the washed beaten rice. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
