Potato Parwal Curry - Orissa Style

This Potato and Parwal Curry is a simple and tasty side dish for chapatis. This is an Orissa Style dish.
Actually I am not a big fan of Parwal, but this dish is really awesome.
Some years back I had hired a cook for about a month, and that person was from Orissa.
He used to make this dish and I liked it, and so did my family. Since then, I make this quite regularly at home.

Serves 3
Ingredients:
Parval - 3 - sliced
Potato - 1 large - sliced
Cloves - 2
Green Cardamom -  2
Cinnamon - 1 inch each - 2 pieces
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chillies whole - 2
Onion - 1/2 - chopped
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilly powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Water - 1 cup

Method:
Grind the cloves, green cardamom seeds and 1 piece of cinnamon using a hand mortar or blender.
Take a heavy bottomed pan, keep on low heat, add ghee and then the whole red chillies and cumin seeds and fry for about 1/2 minute.
Now add the cinnamon stick and the onions and fry till onions turn golden brown. Now add the powdered spices, salt, turmeric, red chilly powder, potatoes and parwal and stir fry for about 2-3 minutes.
Now add 1 cup water, cover and cook till the parwal and potato are well done and most of the water has been absorbed.
Serve hot with Rotis.
