"Masaledar Mutton" - A lip smacking Lamb side-dish

A truly lip smacking side-dish made from mutton/lamb is this "Masaledar mutton"...
Try making it and am sure you will love it...
Goes well both with rotis ( Indian bread) or plain steaming rice/ jeera rice.

Serves 3
Ingredients:
Mutton/Lamb - 300 gms
Onions - 2 large - sliced
Oil/Ghee - 2 tbsp
Bay leaf (Tej patta) - 1
Garlic paste - 1 tbsp or 4 cloves peeled garlic
Ginger paste - 1 tbsp or 1 inch fresh ginger
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Jeera powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Tomatoes - 1 large - pureed

Method:
Take a heavy bottomed pan, add oil/ghee, fry the tej patta and onion till transparent. Add ginger and garlic and fry for 1 minute. Switch off the gas and allow to cool a bit. Then grind into a smooth paste.
Now take a cooker, keep on low heat, add 1/2 tsp of ghee, add the mutton pieces and all the masala powders and fry for 1 minute, then add the ground onion paste, salt and tomato puree and fry till oil separates. Then add 1 cup water into the cooker, mix well and pressure cook on high flame till you get the 1st whistle. After that cook on low flame for 20-25 minutes and then switch off the heat.
Open the cooker after the pressure drops and serve hot garnished with butter.
You could even cook till nearly dry to make it more "masaledar".
