*********Deepavali Festival Special ********* "Mohanthal" - A Gujrati/Rajasthani dessert

Wish you all a Happy and Prosperous Diwali....

Finally managed to make "Mohanthal" which turned out to be easier than I thought...
My first attempt at making this at home...
Have had this dessert several times in some Rajasthani restaurants, and managed to even get the recipe, but always thought it was tuff to make so postponed it...

A yummy Gujrati/Rajasthani dessert....you could even called it "Gram Flour Fudge"

Try making it...its easy and yummy too...

Cooking time : 30 mins
Makes 12-15 pieces
Ingredients:
Bengal Gram Flour - 180 gms
coarsely grounde Ghee - 160 gms
Cardamom - 4, powdered

For the Sugar Syrup:
Sugar - 200 gms
Water - 180 ml
Milk - 30 ml

For the Garnish:
Almonds - 2 tbsp, chopped
Pistachios - 2 tbsp, chopped

Method:
Place the gram flour in a thali/ large plate.
Heat ghee and pour half of it over the flour.
Rub the ghee into the gram flour with the palms till it resembles bread crumbs.
Heat the remaining ghee.
Add the flour and stir continuously till golden brown.
Remove from heat and allow to cool.
To prepare the sugar syrup, heat water, add the sugar and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add milk to the sugar syrup. You will see a black layer floating on top. These are the impurities in sugar. Remove them with the help of a spoon.
Simmer till it is of one thread consistency.
Add the browned gram flour to the sugar syrup and stir well.
Pour into a greased thali and spread evenly.
Garnish with almonds and pistachios and allow to cool for 4 to 5 hours.
Cut into squares.
If desired, decorate with silver foil before sprinkling almonds and pistachios
