"Nasheeli Champe" or Drunken Lamb Chops
"Nasheeli Champe" or Drunken Lamb chops is a starter that is totally my own creation...in terms of the recipe...
the name maybe used by some restaurants or on the net, but I just used this name as i thought it fitted well with the ingredients in the recipe....
Easy to make...have used "red wine" in the recipe so am calling it Drunken or nasheeli.
Ingredients:
Lamb chops - 500 gms
Curds/yoghurt - 1/2 cup
Black salt - 1 tsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Chat masala - 1/2 tsp
Red wine ( preferably port wine ) - 1/2 cup
Method:
Wash the lamb chops well and marinate with curds, black salt, red chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt and chat masala for 1-2 hours by keeping in the refrigerator.
Now take a cooker, put the marinated lamb chops along with the marinade in the cooker, add 1/2 cup water and boil on low flame for 10 minutes after the 1st whistle.
Then switch off the heat, and open the cooker after its cooled for about 10-15 minutes ( ie till all the steam has left the cooker).
Now open the cooker, add the red wine, mix well and switch on the heat, keep the cooker open and allow the liquid and the chops to boil, after 10-15 minutes all the wine and the marinade would have evaporated leaving behind yummy lamb chops drunk with red wine.
The taste is divine.
Serve as a starter or with any kind of bread.
