Tawa Fried Cauliflower (Pan Fried Cauliflower)

Cauliflower is something you might want to add to your regular diet because of its multiple health benefits. Cauliflower consumption has been studied for its cancer-preventing potential and antioxidant properties. Cauliflower contains many nutrients, making it an excellent addition to any diet. So I buy a cauliflower everyweek and make different dishes. I know lot of my friends shun from buying it since they feel its tedious to clean it. The cleaning method is given in my recipe.

Created by my mom and aunt, this dish is a favourite with all of us including the kids.
The quantiity of spice can be altered according to the tastebuds.

Cleaning the cauliflower :

A very easy way to clean it woud be to just cut it into even pieces, and put them in boiling hot salt water for less than a minute and drain out all the water and put them in cold water again.

Putting them in hot salt water wil remove all impurities.
Why are we putting them in cold water ? This is to stop it from cooking  further.

Ingredients :
Cauliflower - 1
Rice powder or Corn flour - 2 tbsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Method :
Cut cauliflower into small pieces keeping the florets intact.
Wash them in hot and cold water and described in the beginning of this post.
Now put these florets in a big bowl, and sprinkle the rice powder or corn flour, red chilli powder, salt and lemon juice.
Mix well and keep for atleast 30 mins.
Could be kept for few hours in the fridge too.
Take a flat griddle or tawa.
Add the oil, and the marinated cauliflower pieces and fry till well done.
If non-stick tawa is used then oil quantity can be reduced to 1 tsp.
This dish is eaten best with rice and dal.
Its also a very good side dish with curd rice.
